Supernatural: origins

This si the 2nd Supernatural graphic novel that I read and loved it the same the 1st one (Rising son). The story is aboutr what happened to the Winchester family right after Mary's death and how papa Winchester became a demons hunter. The art could have benn great too if not for 2 things: the drawing looked like they were made for a B&W book rather then a colered one. And the coloring is weired and has a look of an old and faded comics book. I'm looking forward for the 3rd that the release of it's issues will start in Feb. 2010.

Buck Rogers #1-6 - Future shock

I didn't read any Buck Rogers stories before Aynamite announced the Buck Rodgers new series and only knew the basic story i.e. that Buck Rogers is an Anerican somehow ending in the 25th century. I deceided to pick up this series to finally find out what all the hooha is about and wasn't disappointed. The 1st story arc is good and explains how Buck ended up 500 years in the future nad why the future is the way it is. Loved the idea of the almighty pack revealed as rats inside big robotic aromour. The art is good. I'm waiting expectantly to read the 2nd story arc and hopefully in it Buck will realise that Willma is his great gtreat great grand daughter before it's too late.

Doctor Who: The widow's curse

I don't read magazines like the Doctor Who magazine and wasn't aware of the great Doctor Who comic strips published in them. I was very surprised to find this collection in my local comics shop, bought it although it's a bit pricey ($32) and wasn't disappointed. The stories are just great, whether it's a 8 pages story or a 4 parter. Most of the art is good too. All the stories are of teh 10th Doctor with Marth Jones and later with Donna Noble. Some of them are continuations of TV eppisodes like the one about the Sycorex females looking for their missing hubbies, who were killed in the Christmas eppisode that intorduced the 10th Doctor.

This collection is volume 2 of the 10th Doctor strips. I've already orsered volume 1 and lookign forward to volume 3 that is supposed to be released in the upcoming summer.

Angel news from IDW

In March, IDW willl be doing an ANGEL SPECIAL dedicated to Andy Hallett's character, LORNE. John Byrne, is going to tell the tale and illustrate it, too. It'll be a 48-page book with a full-length story.

Looking forward to IDW's March solicitations :)

Dynamite Acquires Dabel Brothers Titles

Dynamite Entertainment has announced that they have acquired the titles published by Dabel Brothers Productions and will begin to publish and distribute those books under the Dynamite banner beginning in 2010. When asked how current series would continue in terms of relaunching with new #1s or continuing with their current numbering , Barrucci explained, "There's no cookie-cutter answer. We're basically rolling up our sleeves and will determine what is in the best interest of each title. The first book will appear in April." As for the titles he's most excited to bring under the Dynamite banner, the publisher said, "Everything from Patricia Briggs to Dean Koontz to Jim Butcher – everything's exciting in this catalogue! We want to help these talented authors expand their audience to the comic fans who want them on a regular basis."

Crossing fingers that Dynamite will continue the Dresden Files comics and that it won't take them ages to do that like it's taking them with the Stargate comics.

DC "earth 1" series

DC Comics has announced Superman: Earth One and Batman: Earth One, two graphic novels spotlighting the heroes' first years and earliest moments, retold in a standalone, original graphic novel format, on a new earth with a new continuity. Superman: Earth One will be written by J. Michael Stracyznski, with art by Shane Davis. Batman: Earth One will be written by Geoff Johns, with art by Gary Frank. The pair are part of a series of Earth One OGNs

I may consider getting into this after the books will arrive to CNV and I'll get a chance to check them.
