G.I. Joe: Operation hiss

Don't know what is it with the G.I. Joe comics but so far I wasn't disappointed from any of the books I read. This book, which belongs to the movie continuity doesn't disappoint either.
This time Duke goes undercover and infiltrate Major Bludd's organization. He even goes as far as shooting Ripcord knowing that Ripcord won't be harmed due to his Joe body armor. The Joes are shown to be vulnerable when again Cobra manage to get a computer virus into their system. Maybe the Joes need to change their computer geeks. At the end, the Joes manage to stop Cobra from detonating bombs all over the world, except for the Golden Bridge in San Francisco.
Great read and the art is wonderful.

Star Trek: Captain's blood

This is one of the books that were "written" by William Shatner. Yea right. Since the real authors were the Reeves-Stevens, it's very interesting and fun to read. The book is set after the events in the movie Nemesis, and involve characters from TOS, TNG and the movie.

Star Trek Enterprise: By the book

Boring !!! Another book that I wasn't able to read from cover to cover and 105 pages only skimmed through the rest. Archer's Enterprise encounter a planet with 2 different sentient species, living alone on different continents. The impatient Archer blunders through 1st contact with each specie. The ridiculous part is that the advanced Hipons who colonized the planet 2000 years ago need the primitive Enterprise's help to realise that their psionic communication is what killing the native humanoids. Half of the book is a boring step by step description of a RPG game played by some of the crew.

CSI: Sin city

Reading the CSI books is like watching an episode. The team investigate 2 murders of women: a stripper and a born again christian. As usual after some wring turns the team finds the real killers. Fun reading.

Star Trek: movie adaptation

As an adaptation this book is very good. Reading it was like watching the movie again. The art is pretty good too. But I have a huge problem with all this Star Trek reboot. I understand that this is a different time line from TOS's time line so things are different. But for example the idea of Kirk being promoted from Cadet straight to Captain is ridiculous. Also seeing a very emotional Spock having relationship with Uhura is very weird.

Star Trek Voyager: Backflash

This book is from the delta quadrant era and I got it just because it involved Captain Sulu. The book is OK, but not much more.

Stargate Atlantis: Hunt and run

The book isn't worth the cover price was S&H that I paid for it. Me thinks that in the future I'll get from Amazon on the SG-1 books and leave getting the Atlantis books for my next visit to the Forbidden Planet.

Torchwood: Slow decay

I thinks that I broke my own record reading this book. I finished it in less then 24 hours. It was so enticing that I wasn't able to put it down. That is although quite early I deduced that the loosing weight clinic is the bad guys.

So far only 15 Torchwood books were released between 2007 and 2009. So far I own read about half of them. It will be a sad day when I'll finish the 15th book. Although since the show is supposed to be picked by Starz who promised a new season in 2011, there is a chance for more novels.

Smoke and Morrors by Tanya Huff

The 2nd books in the Smoke series is as exiting as the 1st. The main hero is Tony Foster the fledgling wizard. Henry Fitzroy has a very minor role. Tony and his crew mates are shooting an episode of their vampire TV show in an old house that turns to be a real haunted house. When night comes, the house lock them in and tried to get them to kill each other. Unfortunately to the evil residing int the house, one of it's captive is Tony who had to reveal his secret to the others in order to be able to save most of them. Too bad the Huff only wrote 3 books in this series. They are wonderful and I wish there were more.

Robocop #1-6

Issues #1-4 are a 4 parts story about a private company taking over old Detroit's police department, replacing the flash & blood policemen with huge robots and forcing Robocop to work with them. There is also a secondary story about that company's creator trying to take over Robocop's body. I liked that story a lot.
The next 2 issues are 2 stand alone stories continuing the main story. They are not as good as the 1st story. At the end of issue #6 Dynamite promise that the story will continue. So far no hint to that in the solicitations or in the comics news. The art is pretty good.

The lost symbol

Since I liked the 2 previous Robert Langdon books, I was looking forward to reading this book. At the beginning it was as interesting as the previous book. But as the book progressed it became evident that it's just a copy of the same formula with no new twists. Somewhere in the middle I knew that the bad guy is Peter Solomon's son, which finished for me the mystery part. What was left to find was whether Langdon will save his friend Peter. As the end approached it became more stupid. There is no way that the Freemasons will let Dan Brown publish their inner secrets. And at end, the way seriously injured Peter was running around DC was plain ridiculous. When I finished reading, I was glad that I bought it as a 2nd hand book and didn't pay the full cover price.
