Victoriab undead: Sherlock Holmes vs zombies

In 1854, a meteor streaked across London's skies, bringing with it a zombie plague. For twenty years, Her Majesty's Secret Service has kept the threat under control. But now dastardly fiend Moriarty is using the zombies in an attempt to overthrow the Victorian government. It's up to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to face off against their greatest foe and his zombie minions!

When I got the 1st issue of Image's Moriarty, Dany from my local comics shop suggested that I'll read this book. Good suggestion. I enjoyed it so much that I've already ordered the 2nd book "Sherlovk Holmes v. Dracula". The characters are very true to Conan Doyle's character and the art is beautiful. Esp. 19th century London.

Doctor Who: Stone Rose

Mickey is startled to find a statue of Rose in a museum - a statue that is 2,000 years old. The Doctor realizes that this means the TARDIS will shortly take them to Ancient Rome, but when it does, he and Rose soon have more on their minds than sculpture. While the Doctor searches for a missing boy, Rose befriends a girl who claims to know the future. But then the Doctor stumbles on the hideous truth behind the statue of Rose - and Rose herself learns that you have to be very careful what you wish for.

Again it took me less then 2 days to read this book. I love the Doctor Who books but I prefer to linger longer on a book. The story also isn't the brightest. Fron the beginning I knew that the statues are actually people who were turned into stone and not real sculptures.

Murder she wrote: Manhatans & murder

Promoting her latest book in New York, Jessica Fletcher encounters a former drug smuggler dressed up in a Santa suit and sets up an interview with him, only to discover the unlikely St. Nick dead the next day.

Not bad murder mystery. I didn't figure out who did what till the last pages. But the idea of a middle aged tourist runnung around unsavory parts of Manhatan at night on her own is rediculous, I live in a big city and know better than wondering on my own in the usavory parts of my city.

With creativecollaboration from STAR TREK writer/producer Roberto Orci, this new series begins the countdown to the much-anticipated movie sequel premiering in 2012. Star Trek TNG: Greater than the sum

The Starship Rhea has discovered a cluster of carbon planets that seems to be the source of the quantum energies rippling through a section of space. A landing party finds unusual life-forms inhabiting one of the planets. One officer, Lieutenant T'Ryssa Chen -- a half-Vulcan -- makes a tenuous connection with them. But before any progress can be made, the Rhea comes under attack from the Einstein -- a Starfleet vessel now controlled by the Borg. The landing party can only listen in horror as their comrades are assimilated. The Borg descend to the planet, and just as Chen accepts that she will be assimilated, the lieutenant is whisked two thousand light-years away. A quantum slipstream -- instantaneous transportation -- is controlled by these beings in the cluster, and in the heart of the cluster there is now a Borg ship. Cut off from the rest of the Borg collective, the Einstein cannot be allowed to rejoin it. For the sake of humanity, the Borg cannot gain access to quantum slipstream technology. Starfleet Command gives Captain Picard carte blanche: do whatever he must to help the beings in the cluster, and stop the Einstein no matter the cost.

It's been long time since I read a Star Trek book. It's not that I don't have a pile of new Star trek books waiting to be read. I guess it's because for years I read only Star Trek books and have over done it. Anyhow, this is a good book. The story is situated before the Destiny trilogy that ends the Borg's existence once and for all. Although I already know what's going to happen next, it's very enjoyable story portraying Captian Picard as more human character then usual. Marrying Beverly Crusher was good for the stern captian :)

Percy Jackson: The demigod files

In these top-secret files, Rick Riordan, Camp Half-Blood's senior scribe, gives you an inside look at the world of demigods that no regular human child is allowed to see. These highly classified archives include three of Percy Jackson's most perilous adventures, exclusive colour stills from the new film, a "Spotter's Guide to Monsters", a "Who's Who in Greek mythology", "Percy's Summer Camp report" and much more. So, if you're armed with this book, you'll have everything you need to know to keep you alive in your training. Your own adventures have just begun.

1st of all I hate IE8 !!! Took me several tries to figure that I need to use the "comatibility view" button to be able to paste text GRRRRRRR.

Anyhow, I bought this thin book as a curiosity item. I was pleasently surprised that it also contains 3 new short stories of Percy's adventures. YIPEEE !!! Wish Iread it before reading "the lost hero". The stories explain somethings like where Phestos the bronze dragon came from. This booklet is a must read for Percy Jackson fans.

True Blood news from IDW

IDW Publishing and HBO®, Inc. are pleased to announce the continuation of their mega-hit comic series with TRUE BLOOD: THE FRENCH QUARTER, an all-new six-issue story arc beginning in August, 2011. Trubies' favorite characters return, including mind-reading waitress Sookie Stackhouse and vampire Sherif Eric Northman, who join forces to track down a killer in New Orleans. Intrigue and suspense will follow Sookie and Eric, as will Bill Compton, in IDW’s TRUE BLOOD: THE FRENCH QUARTER.Sookie and Eric travel to New Orleans to track down a killer named Guerra, whom Eric and Godric thought they killed in Paris more than 200 years ago. Bill Compton's in town, too, making sure Eric doesn't get too close to Sookie, and investigating a local Hep-D outbreak that may be connected to Guerra's latest victims. Meanwhile, back in Bon Temps, Trubies will wonder why Pam is hanging out at Merlotte's and what it is she wants with Lafayette.

I've akready pre-ordered this mini series. The 1st arc "all together now" was boring but it looks like it's getting more interesting.

The Morganville vampires: Glass houses + The dead girl's dance

Morganville is a small college town in the heart of Texas—not a place that exactly screams “hotbed of creatures of the night.” But college freshman Claire Danvers is about to discover why, in Morganville, you should never, ever stay out after dark…

Glass Houses - College freshman Claire Danvers moves off campus and into an old house in the small town of Morganville. Her new roommates have her back when the town’s deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood…

The Dead Girls’ Dance - Claire may have a great roommate and a new boyfriend, but when she’s invited to the Dead Girls’ Dance all hell breaks loose—literally. Because this time, the living and the dead are ready to tear up the night…

Since the minute I spotted this serie in a bookshop, I wanted to read it. At long last the 1st volume (books 1+2) landed in my used books shop. I wasn't disappointed. The 2 books belong to the WOW list. The are unputdownable and I just swallowed them. Vampires, romance and lots of action are mixed together. This series is as interesting as the Vampire Diaries and Academy series. Looking forward for the next book and am very happy that the author continues writing more books in this series.

Safe House - Meg Cabot

Jessica Mastriani, 16, has been having psychic visions ever since she was struck by lightning, earning her the nickname Lightning Girl at school. When a cheerleader disappears and is found dead, Jessica reluctantly uses her psychic abilities to catch the culprits.

Liked the book. Again Jess has to navigate between her inclination to save people using her psychic abilities and the need to keep it from the Feds. This time Jess's family pay the proce for Jess's "gift" when the murderer torch their fancy restaurant.

CSI: Shock treatment

What happens when a reality TV series gets a true dose of reality? A staged prank for a hit scare show has gone horribly wrong with an actor now dead and production halted indefinitely. As the graveyard shift of Sin City’s best crime scene investigators—including Catherine Willows, Ray Langston, Nick Stokes, Sara Sidle, and Greg Sanders— digs deeper behind the scenes, more questions than answers pile up: Was the botched prank’s set-up simply a case of carelessness on the producers’ part resulting in a tragic accident, or did someone really orchestrate an elaborate scheme for revenge and murder?

Another great CSI story. I do miss Grissom. His eccentrisity spiced the stories.
