More news from IDW

IDW Publishing will produce several comics series in the universe of James O'Barr's classic The Crow comics and based on the upcoming feature film. Additionally, IDW will offer collector's editions of all existing The Crow comics.
"I'm glad to see The Crow land at IDW," said Ted Adams, the company's co-founder and chief executive officer. "I edited the last Crow series when I ran Todd McFarlane's comics in the late '90's, and we're looking forward to bringing this classic character back to the medium in 2012 at IDW."

Steve Niles and Bernie Wrightson are teaming on Frankenstein Alive, a 13-issues series that will launch and will pick up where Mary Shelley's classic tale ends.

I'll probably order the Frankenstein series. The Crow is a maybe.

DARK HORSE COMICS: HOUSE OF NIGHT

The Casts bring the high school-aged vampires from their novels to with all-new stories, tying in directly to the existing series.
Here's how Dark Horse describes the book:
Until recently, Zoey Redbird was an average high-school student worrying about grades, boys, and breakouts. But priorities have a way of changing when you are marked as a vampyre, enroll in the vampyre academy House of Night, and have to figure out a whole new social hierarchy, affinities for elemental magic, and physiological changes that make you crave blood.
In this series, taking place between scenes from Betrayed (the second book in the House of Night series, which has sold millions of copies internationally), Zoey is in desperate need of guidance as she prepares to take over the elite student group known as the Dark Daughters. Surrounded by her group of devoted friends, Zoey turns to The Fledgling Handbook, a historical vampyre tome, in hopes of better understanding this big, new world of vampyrism. The comic will be co-written by Kent Dallan, with art by Joelle Jones. House of Night will premiere on Nov. 9.

STAR TREK/LEGION

IDW Publishing has announced its first crossover with Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes, a six-issue monthly series that launches in October.
Here's how IDW describes the book:
"Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes tells the tale of the original crew of the Starship Enterprise, who beam down to a planet only to discover that the planet isn't their intended destination, or even in the right universe. At the same time, a group of 'Great Darkness Saga' Legionnaires inside a time sphere find themselves cast into the 23rd century, but it's not the 23rd century as they know it, either. Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes is a galaxy-spanning adventure that draws both teams together to face a menace that includes Khunds, Klingons, Borg, and other threats that aren't quite as they should be. The egalitarian United Planets in one universe and a United Federation of Planets in another is now the Imperial Planets of Terra, a dark empire focused on war and conquest, and that's just the beginning for this special series."

The Mediator: Reunion

The RLS Angels are out for blood, and only Suze can stop them--since she's the only one who can see them. The four ghostly teenagers died in a terrible car accident, for which they blame Suze's classmate Michael... and they'll stop at nothing until he's joined them in the realm of the dead. As Suze desperately fends off each attempt on Michael's life, she finds she can relate to the Angels' fury. Because their deaths turn out not to have been accidental at all. And their killer is only too willing to strike again.

The Mediator serie has the same theme as the 1-800 serie. This time instead of find missing children, Suze - the main character can talk to the dead and has to protect the living forn the ghosts she talk too. Even Suze's tendency to puch people instead of talk to them first, is the same as Jess's way of doung things in the 1-800 books. A very easy read for a very hot day.

The secret circle: The intiation

Cassie doesn't want to move to live with her grandmother in New Salem. But when she arrives, she discovers that her destiny is inescapable: she is initiated into the Secret Circle, a coven of young witches whose power has controlled the town for three hundred years. Hopelessly in love with the coven leader's boyfriend, Cassie risks falling prey to dark powers which could destroy all that she holds dear

The 1st book in the Secret Circle serie has the same theme as some other L.J. Smith's books like Night Visions etc.. Girl finds that she is not a normal teenager but a member of the supernatural world, falls in love with the wrong boy, and hook up with him although it's a very bad idea. The only difference is that this book has sequells. I find the Vanpire Diaries to be much superior to this book.

Stargate Atlantis: Brimstone

The Stargate Atlantis team discover a city on a moon that's about to plunge into its own sun. But the city which looked as if it had been abandoned turns out to be inhabited by descendants of the Ancients who have fallen into decadence and debauchery. Faced with a dissolute society disinterested in their own fate and unable to escape, the team must fight their way free before being plunged into a fiery death.

Just another rgular episode of Stargate Atlantis. Not much suspense since it's obvious that the whole team will manage to escape before the Ancient city will be burned by the sun, so they can participate in the next adventure. Althoug this fact is obvious in all the Stargate books this time there was nothing more in this story then the team fighting to escapse. In other Stargate books like "A Matter of Honor" and "The Cost of Honor" for example the story contain so much more that elevate it into the the WOW list.

Dalziel % Pascoe: A cure for all diseases

Some say that Andy Dalziel wasn't ready for God, others that God wasn't ready for Dalziel. Either way, despite his recent proximity to a terrorist blast, the Superintendent remains firmly of this world. And, while Death may be the cure for all diseases, Dalziel is happy to settle for a few weeks' care under a tender nurse. Convalescing in Sandytown, a quiet seaside resort devoted to healing, Dalziel befriends Charlotte Heywood, a fellow newcomer and psychologist, who is researching the benefits of alternative therapy. With much in common, the two soon find themselves in league when trouble comes to town. Sandytown's principal landowners have grandiose plans for the resort -- none of which they can agree on. One of them has to go, and when one of them does, in spectacularly gruesome fashion, DCI Peter Pascoe is called in to investigate -- with Dalziel and Charlotte providing unwelcome support. But Pascoe finds dark forces at work in a place where medicine and holistic remedies are no match for the oldest cure of all!

Good murder book with lots of twists and bodies. Took me a week to finish it which is great. It's written from the prespective of 3 people: Andy, Peter and Charlotte. Very interesting to see how different each person see the same events. Being almost killed by a bomb made Andy a tiny bit more human. Peter on the other hand proves that he is not ready yet to be the Super. Looking forward for the next book in the serie :)
