While I can't stand the writing in the True Blood books, and have found the Twilight 1 st book and movie quite boring, I was pleasantly surprised by the 1st book in the Vampire Diaries series and found it quite fascinating.The story is basically the same as in the Twilight books. A mortal teenager gets involved with a nice Vampire and finds herself entangled in his dark world. This book was 1st published 14 years before Twilight, which makes it the original and Twilight the copy.
The story and atmosphere are great and I loved the back flashes to 15 century Italy. Hopefully I'll get the 2nd book soon.
