Star Trek: Infastation #1-2

IDW's Infestation big event is about the zombies breaching 4 of IDW's licenseed universes (Star Trek. G.I. Joe, Transformers & Ghost busters) and infecting them. In the Star Trek universe Kirk & Spock accompany McCoy to a planet to recieve a comndation. When they arrive they discover that all living thins on the planet were infected by the zombie virus. After being chased by the zombies and loosing their security detachment to the virus, McCoy finds a semi-cure that return the inhabitents sanity but leave the vuris dormant in their bodies. Not a very exciting story. The art isn't that good either because in some of the panels Kirk's likenss is bad.

Ender in exile #1-5

Cute. The idea that a 12 years old boy commanding an army and when he is 15 he govern a collony is rediculous but who cares. The story is cute. As I hoped the comics version is much better then the book version. The written book is 350+ pages long and probably 200 of them are about Ender's thoughts and soul searching. The comics manage to convey the soul searching in few panels. The art is good although they could have made the Formics less frightening.

I'm going to get all the Ender comics but will have to wait till I'll find them in the bargain bin because I'm not ready to pay $25 for the hard covers and for some reason Marvel refuse to realse them in TPB format.

Smoke and ashes by Tanya Huff

BAHAHA a book for the WOW list but unfortunatley it's the last one in the Blood Ties series due to poor sales. Can't understand why the books weren't selling since it's a wonderful book :(
In this installment Tony is already a wizard and with the help of Henry, a 3500 years old woman and his fellows from the TV show, he manage to banish a demonlord. At the end Tony finally gets together with Lee, the actor he fancied from book 1 of the smoke books.

Super heros comics not my cup of tea

When I started reading comics about 4 years ago, it was because of the release of Highlander comics serie and back then I was crazy about all things Highlander. Then I realized that comics is just another format of reading stories from my favorite universes like Star Trek, Doctor Who, Stargate etc. But comics is mainly about super heros like X-Men, Superman, Batman, Spider man etc. Not long after I got into the comics scene, I found in the bargain bin an x-men graphic novel (Phonix rising) and decided to give it a try, but didn't like it mostly because in every other panel there was a referal to issue #x in series a or b or c etc. Since I had no intention of starting to read all those series I decided to stay away from the super hero comics.

Don't get me wrong I like the movies, except for the Spider man ones, which I can't stand because of the lead actor Toby McGuire (sp) whose whinning voice I can't stand. And the 1st Iron Man movie with Shakil O'neil (sp) which was stupid beyond words. I also liked the comics adaptation of the 2nd Spider man movie, which I got for free in one of the local comics cons. That's why when about a month ago I found out in my local used books shops the 1st 2 volumes of the ultimate collections of Ultimate Spider man for less then $10 each, I've decided to give it another try. I was disappointed again. This time there were no referals to other comics but the story is boring mostly because the pace is too slow. So I've put volume 1 aside before finishing to read it and and I'm not going to get more of those collections or any other super heros comics.

What can I say, it looks like super hero comics are still not my cup of tea.

Inspector Lynley: This body of death

The latest installment of the Inspector Lynley books is a bit annoying. It's a huge book (800+ pages). Lynley makes his first appearance only after 150 pages. I didn't like the fact that near the end of the book he slept with the nasty acting Superintendent who picked on Havers, and then talked their boss into giving her another chance. There is also a paralel story about 3 bored kids who kidnapped and murdered a baby. It seems that there is no connection between the main story and the paralel one, till you guess that one of the chracters in the main story is actually one of those kids.
Other then that it's a great murder mystery and I'm looking forward to the next book, with Lenley back at work. Hopefully he'll be paired with Havers and the nasty acting Superintendent will not become a permanent character.

Anita Blake: The Laughing Corpse vol. 2+3

Another one to the WOW list. A very entertaining and suspenseful mystery book with unnatural cover. In vol. 2 Anita discovers who raised the killer zombie (a fellow animator with the help of the nasty voodoo priestess). The why is discovered in vol. 3, where Anita finds out that the whole thing is connceted to the crazy crippled millioner who wants here to raise a 300 years corpse so it can tell him where he buried a treasure. On the way Anita realzies that she is also a necromancer.

I've already have the 1st volume of the next Anita Blake comics book and it will be at least another year till the other 2 volumes will be released, but it's will be worth the very long wait.
