The latest installment of the Inspector Lynley books is a bit annoying. It's a huge book (800+ pages). Lynley makes his first appearance only after 150 pages. I didn't like the fact that near the end of the book he slept with the nasty acting Superintendent who picked on Havers, and then talked their boss into giving her another chance. There is also a paralel story about 3 bored kids who kidnapped and murdered a baby. It seems that there is no connection between the main story and the paralel one, till you guess that one of the chracters in the main story is actually one of those kids. Other then that it's a great murder mystery and I'm looking forward to the next book, with Lenley back at work. Hopefully he'll be paired with Havers and the nasty acting Superintendent will not become a permanent character.
