This is the 2nd book in the Scarpetta series, and it's totally different from the 16th book (Scarpetta) that I read before. While the 16th book is written in 3rd person and is full with phsyco bubble, this 2nd book is written in 1st person and no said bubble. Another difference is that in book 16 Benton Wesley, who is by then Scarpetta's hubby is refered to as "Benton", in book 2 he is refered to as "Wesley". I definitly prefer the 1st person version. Kathy Reichs also write her Brenan books in 1st person. In this books Scarpetta is after a deranged killer who murdered a novelist and people connected to her. Before he is caught the killer also try to kill Scarpetta herself.
I'm reading now the 1st book in the series (Postmoertem). In that book Scarpetta doesn't like Marinpo - the detective working with her. In book 2 they are best of friends. I hope that when I'll finished the book I'll find out what made her change her mind about Marino.
