The 1st part of the Laughing Corpse is very interesting. If you take the supernatural out of the story, you are left with a very good murder mystery with lots of action. A family (parents & 3 years old boy (were brutally murdered by what Anita suspects is a killer zombie. She have find both the zombie and the person who raised it from the dead. On the way Anita have to deal with a crazy billionare who wants to force her to raise a very old corpse for him, Jean Claude - the master vampire of the city who wants her as a human slave and a nasty voodoo priestess. The book ends with Anita agreeing to meet Jean Claude for a talk in the Laughing Corpse bar and being attacked by supernatural thugs sent by the voodoo woman. To be continued ....
All in all, Anita's life are not different then those of wizard Harry Dresden whose adventuires I'm reading now in Jim Butcher's Small Favor.
