Scarpetta: Blow fly

This is the 1st book not written from Scarpetta's point of view. The format is ain't bad and unabled me to skip the parts of Jay Tally aka Jean Paul Chandonne turturing and murdering women just because in the previous book, Scarpetta didn't want anything to do with him after 1 afternoon of passion in Paris.

Benton Wesly is back. We learn that he had to fake his death with Marino & Lucy's help to keep himself and Scarpetta alive, becuase the Chandonne mob were after him due to botched undercover operation. When the Chndonnes manage to lure Scarpetta to Baton Rouge, Benton had to break cover, go there and kill the mobsters excpet for the Wolfman himself who escaped from death row in Texas. The book ends with Scarpetta meeting Benton face to face and realizing that she sufferef and grieved for nothing.

I read a review that complained about the book's end and lack of fire works when they finally met. I disagree. Of course Scarpetta slapping Benton would have been nice, but the end when he asks her if he can touch her and Scarpetta takes his hands and press them against her face is very touching and great. In "Black notice" Scarpetta described Benton's love making as very tender, so this very tender ending is true to their love.

Scarpetta: The last precinct

Every author has good books and bad books. This book is the 1st bad book in the Scarpetta series. I wasn't able to read all of it and just jumped to the end after reading only half of it. Twists and unexpected turns in the story are great, but too many can be too much as it is in this book. And what upset me the most was the too graphic description of how the dog was murdered.
Anyhow in this book Cornwell tell about Scarpetta's career as CMO being destroyed and her being accused of murder of the female deputy chief of police that was murdered by the french wolfman in the previous book. Scarpetta has a lot to blame for what happened to her because she refused to seek help in handling her grief over Benton's "murder". Of course Benton himself, Marino & Lucy share the blame because they kept Scarpetta in the dark about Benton's faked death. But it doesn't absolve Scarpetta of her share in the blame.

Scarpetta: Black notice

I own 15 of the 1st 16 Scarpetta books. The only one missing is book #10 "Point of origin". Not reading it yet, I missed Benton dying, and was very suprised that this book starts with him being dead. Of course I already know that he faked his death because I already read the book "Scarpetta" in which he is alive and married to Scarpetta :)

Anyhow starting with Book #3 - "All that remains", the books are practically chapters in a big ongoing story. This make them very exciting and unputdownable. This book is the same. Scarpetta is after a French murderer who is the son of formdable French criminal family. She has to stand against him without her lover Benton who is presued dead, and with limited help from Marino because of a corrupted new deputy chief of police. The book end with the brutal murder of said deputy and Scarpetta catching the killer when he tried to murder her too. ... to be continued ... LOL

Star Trek TNG: Indistinguishabe from magic

Another Star Trek book that I got bored with. The beginning was very promising. A 22th century starship disappears and is discovered 200 years later by Picard's Enterprise with evidence that it was adrift for 2000 years ... very mysterious. Somewhere along the way to solving the mystery the writing start to be boring and all that left was to jump to the end and find the explanation for the mystery.

Scarpetta: Unnatural exposure

Reading this book I started to suspect that Maybe Cornwell dislike briliant strong independent women like her heroine. This all sarcastic "the big Dr. Scarptetta" talk and discribing her as a self centered stubborn woman who is unwilling to compromise for the man she love, is very annoying.

Anyhow this time Scarpetta is after a fellow M.E. who cultivate deadly viruses just because she thinks that the world owe her an appology.

Benton is already divorced and wants to marry Scarpetta. She of course is afraid of commitment and does her best to push him away. Bitch !!!

Scarpetta: Cause of death

With Gault finally dead, Scarpetta and co. are after a new menance - a cult calling themselves "the new Zionists" which is very annoying. Don't know why Cornewell chose that name esp. when the cult is busy arming Lybia with nuclear weapons.

As usual Scarpetta is the one who enter the lions cage and save the day. With everyone worried sick.

In the ongoing story, Benton is divorcing his wife after he found out that she is cheating with another man. LOL like he wasn't cheating with Scarpetta. Marino is still very jealous.

Scarpetta: From potter's field

I'm hooked on the Scarpetta books and can't stop reading one after the other. I wasn't able to explain to myself why till yesterday when I started reading book #11 (Black notice) and realized that behind the "murder of the day" story there is an ongoing one centered on Scarpetta's life and the lives of people around her i.e. Lucy her niece, Benton her lover and Marino her partner in solving crimes. I don't own book #10, so when book #11 started with Benton being dead, I was like wohhh, Benton is dead ??? when did that happen ??? Then I realized that I'm missing a part of an ongoing story.

Now back to book #7: Finally Scarpetta and co. manage to catch Gault the serial killer in New York after he murdered his own twin sister. "Of course" Scarpetta is the one actually caught him, which is kind of rediculous since she is the chief M.E. and not supposed to presonally run after murderes.

City of bones - Clare

Another book dealing with the supernatural world who belongs to the WOW list. The formula is the same as the other young adults supernatural books: Clary, a teenager believes that she is a ordinary human being and doesn't believe in demons. As usual in these books she discover that she is half Nefillim becuse her mother was a Nefillin demons hunter, that demons, vampires, werewolfs etc. are real and that her father is the Voldemort eqvivalent of the demon hunters. The books is very action packed and entertaining. Looking forward to getting my hands on the next book in the series.

CSI: Grave matters

A wonderful CSI book featuring the original CSI team. Grissom, Sara & Nick are investigating the murder of a young woman and the disappearance of the body that was supposed to be buried in the coffin where the young woman's body was found. At the same time Catherine & Warrick investigate a series of murders in a old people home that were thought to be nothing more then heart attacks. The turns and twists in the stories are fabolous.

Evernight: Hourglass

I enjoyed reading this 3rd book in the Evernight series almost till the end were it became rediculous and anti climatic. Instead of leaving Bianca as a not fully Vampire and continuing telling about her struggle not to become a full vampire, the author chose to kill Bianca and turn her into a ghost. The author also turned Lucas into a vampire. Fron now on they have to find how to co exist as 2 different supernatural creatures who are supposed to be enemies. That's not the way I wanted the story to happen. But I'm going to read the next book "afterlife" when I'll find it in some bargain bin.

Scarpetta: The body farm

A much better book then the previous one, esp, since Corenwell strayed from the formula she used in all the previous books. Scarpetta and co. are still after Gault, the serial killer who escaped capture in the previous book and suspect that he is guilty of the latest murder they are investigating in this book. As it turned out, the murderer was the psyco mother of the murdered little girl. Gault on the other hand, is busy hacking into FBI computers and framing Lucy - Scarpetta niece for it. What he is looking for is still a mystery. Looking forward to reading the next book.

In this book the love affair between Scarpetta and Benton begins and Marino is very jealous, which eventually will lead into him raping Scarpetta.

Star Wars adventures: Chewbacca and the slavers of the shadowlands

A very cute story about Chewie's right of passage when he thought that he should be treated as an adult and refused to listen to his friends. His stupidness cost the life of a pup Wookie. Bad Chewie !!!

The art is bit strange and panels with characters from the movies look like the artist took actual stills and painted some lines on then to make them look more like a drawing.

Fringe: Tales from the fringe

A very enjoyable collection of 6 stories involving characters from the Fringe universe like Peter, Olivia, Astrid etc. All the stories happen before the show started.

I wish there were stories happening during the show like Star Trek novels etc.

The art is mostly good.

My new crazy obsession/collection

I know that I'm not 5 years old but I got a new obsession / collection : male Barbie dolls. The 1st item is Steven wearing bathing trunks and small beach towel. I'm looking for more clothes for it, but unfortunatly I haven't found any in my neck of the woods, and for some unfathomable reason Amazon refuse to send toys to my country GRRRR. Looks like Steven will have to wait till my vacation :)

When I was a kid, Barbie dolls were extremly expensive. Parents had to be very wealthy to be able to afford one. Mine weren't rich. Now that I cheap, I can afford them and look at them not as dolls to play with but as collectibles
