I own 15 of the 1st 16 Scarpetta books. The only one missing is book #10 "Point of origin". Not reading it yet, I missed Benton dying, and was very suprised that this book starts with him being dead. Of course I already know that he faked his death because I already read the book "Scarpetta" in which he is alive and married to Scarpetta :)Anyhow starting with Book #3 - "All that remains", the books are practically chapters in a big ongoing story. This make them very exciting and unputdownable. This book is the same. Scarpetta is after a French murderer who is the son of formdable French criminal family. She has to stand against him without her lover Benton who is presued dead, and with limited help from Marino because of a corrupted new deputy chief of police. The book end with the brutal murder of said deputy and Scarpetta catching the killer when he tried to murder her too. ... to be continued ... LOL
