Scarpetta: The last precinct

Every author has good books and bad books. This book is the 1st bad book in the Scarpetta series. I wasn't able to read all of it and just jumped to the end after reading only half of it. Twists and unexpected turns in the story are great, but too many can be too much as it is in this book. And what upset me the most was the too graphic description of how the dog was murdered.
Anyhow in this book Cornwell tell about Scarpetta's career as CMO being destroyed and her being accused of murder of the female deputy chief of police that was murdered by the french wolfman in the previous book. Scarpetta has a lot to blame for what happened to her because she refused to seek help in handling her grief over Benton's "murder". Of course Benton himself, Marino & Lucy share the blame because they kept Scarpetta in the dark about Benton's faked death. But it doesn't absolve Scarpetta of her share in the blame.
